In France, Germany or Scandinavia handball fills arenas and ranks just behind football in popularity. In England, the sport has lagged behind but that’s changing now. Over the last few years, participation has grown rapidly, and the sport is beginning to take hold.

Chelsea Handball is at the forefront of that growth in London. We are the city’s true family club: inclusive, ambitious, and competitive. We bring children into the sport, develop them through junior and senior squads, and already have players progressing into England youth teams. With the right partners, we can expand that pathway and establish Chelsea as the hub for handball in the capital.

Chelsea Handball connects grassroots enthusiasm with elite competition. All of our teams compete at national competitions organised by England Handball.

With teams spanning across all age groups – from Under-14 to Seniors – we provide a complete pathway into the sport. We make handball affordable through fee waivers and invest in volunteers by training coaches, referees and management leaders.

The potential route is clear: School → Chelsea → Regional / National Academies → National Team.

Key things to know about us

- We are a non-profit Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC), 100% run by volunteers! We are regulated by Companies House (CIC company) and HMRC (CASC status).

- We have been consistently growing (even during the pandemic) to become one of the biggest handball clubs in the UK in members.

- We operate purely based off member contributions, which we aim to maintain as low as reasonably possible, to remain inclusive.

- We continue to experience very strong demand, hence having a potential to deliver significant positive social impact within our locality.
